Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

I honestly wasn’t even planning to stop, I had just finished lunch down the street and happened to drive past Semillas on my way out. Something about it caught my eye, so I figured why not pop in and see if I could find something nice for my wife. Best spontaneous decision I’ve made in a while! From the moment I walked through the door, the vibe was absolutely electric. The space had this incredible energy that just pulls you in. Al and Angie were beyond welcoming, the kind of people who make you feel like you’ve been a regular for years even though it’s your first time there. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping me find something my wife would love. No pressure, no hard sell, just real, warm hospitality. I came in with no real plan, and they guided me effortlessly. They recommended a plant that they were confident she’d adore, and let me tell you, they nailed it. She absolutely loved it. But that’s not even where it ended! While browsing, I came across a beautiful piece of jewelry that I knew I had to get her as well. Two wins in one visit, I’ll take it! The pricing was very reasonable across the board, which honestly made the whole exper

Semillas has quickly become my favorite plant shop. The design of the space is clean, intentional and inviting. There’s a great selection of plants, dried floral arrangements and trinkets (like candles and jewelry). Many products are sourced from small businesses. But, the best part about the space is definitely the staff. Every time I come in Daniel is so lovely. He is highly knowledgeable about plant care and is always very warm and kind. He curates fun pop-ups in the space as well. Don’t walk, run to Semillas !!

Came in because the garage door was open and they had a great playlist. The shop is beautiful and everything in it is carefully picked. Plants, candles, ceramic planters, jewelry, perfumes and body oils. Walked out with a mug and saucer, a candle, matches, soil and some eucalyptus for my bathroom. Community centric in a way you feel the second you walk in. Pilsen is lucky to have Semillas!

Love this plant store so much! They helped me picked out the best plant and the best pot for it that match my aesthetic. They even offer repotting service for additional $3. I love it and would come back!

I absolutely adore Semillas and twice now Al has helped curate some lovely plant additions to my home and work space. The plants from my last shop purchase receive so many compliments, and they are doing very well. I am by no means a plant expert but Semillas carries good hearty plants. For great recommendations I highly suggest to speak to Al. He isn't only knowledgeable about plants, but also has a great eye for aesthetics! Definitely a gem of a shop and great service.
